The Hi Willow

A testament to the enduring power of family, a legacy passed down through generations.

Welcome to Hi Willow

Hi Willow Ranch isn't just a name, it's a legacy built by a family with a deep love for the land. Our story begins with David Loertscher, a young man yearning for a life beyond the confines of Salt Lake City.  At the age of 15, David left for Park City, Utah, where he found solace working with dairy cows—a passion that would forever shape his future.

Family Legacy, Family Flavor

At Hi Willow Ranch, family isn't just a tradition—it's the heartbeat of everything we do. Returning to the land isn't just about farming; it's about honoring a legacy of shared experiences and valuable life lessons. Growing up, the ranch wasn't just a workplace; it was a classroom where bonds were forged, and skills were honed. Now, as we continue the family legacy, we're committed to providing our children with the same sense of freedom and opportunity that shaped our own journey. Hi Willow Ranch is more than just beef; it's a testament to the enduring power of family, passed down through generations.

Our Mission & Vision

At Hi Willow Ranch, our vision is to sustainably raise healthy, thriving Beefmaster cattle amidst the rugged beauty of our land. We strive to create an environment where our cattle flourish on lush pastures in the summer and on homegrown hay and grain in the winter. Through our commitment to sustainable practices, we aim to produce beef that is pure, natural, and raised with the utmost care, ensuring minimal impact on the environment.

Our mission is to provide our customers with the purest, healthiest beef possible. Raised naturally and sustainably, our Beefmaster herd thrives on our land without growth hormones or routine antibiotics. Through our commitment to local processing and sustainable practices, we ensure minimal stress on our animals and the environment. With every bite, taste the legacy of our family tradition—built on hard work, dedication, and a deep respect for the land.

A Family Legacy

Pictured here are Tom and Linda Loertscher, the second generation of farmers in Hi Willow's history. They inherited the ranch from David Loertscher, who acquired the land in 1969, journeying from Utah to settle. Tom shared his father's love for the honest ranching life and in 1970 permanently moved to Hi Willow with his wife, Linda. Together, they built the ranch from the ground up, turning the rugged, muddy terrain into pasture. In the beginning, they barely had any equipment and had to make do with a leaky, cobbled-together house.
